Telling a Story with Video is writing elective with a twist. Students will use the writing process; they will brainstorm, outline, write and edit a short story. However, after writing the story, they will have the opportunity to tell it using unique technologies. Students will work in teams to develop characters and produce a storyboard based on the main ideas of their story. They will write dialogue and select actors. They will direct their own scenes and create a digital video movie of their own story. Their characters, scenes and props are of their own creation. They can draw from things at home, school or from computer-generated images to serve their creativity. Other components of the course include reviewing simple video taped stories to analyze the elements of a story and character development. They also watch the “Making of Jurassic Park”, which shows the transition to digital animation in the world of film.
